mewsletter #4
this one has a cat in it
hi friends hope you’re having a good saturday here’s another poem and a print for you xx
cat
sunlight
warmth
a midday snooze
here I settle
here I muse
on carpet soft
I stretch my paws
arch my back
I mews, I roars
some documentation of the printing process
home printing setup on a budget | first layer | I used this spoon as a makeshift printing press |
in other news,
![]() between a mysterious persistent headache and the pathetically fallacious weather, I've been confined to my bed for much of the week. watching the light change in my room as the days pass. staring at the ceiling and playing with my eye floaters, chasing them around my field of vision. feeling like the cat in my poem I beat my high score in 2048 | saw a hair clip that looked like a duck. did not buy it but will be thinking about it every day. shopkeepers always ask me where I’m from. I’m from here but I don’t blend in with the locals. an outsider wherever I go fun singapore artefact on the bus. I actually quite enjoy the smell of durians but don’t like the taste enough to ever actually buy any. the smell does linger in your pee for days |
books
this week I read:
a wrinkle in time - madeleine l'engle
my grandma kept trying to get me to read this as a child and I only just now took her excellent advice. I felt so seen by this book. if anyone wants to know what it’s like inside my head, reading this will give you a pretty good idea. cry count: 1
the embroidered book - kate heartfield
this book had no reason to be this long. I think it’s funny how literary fiction is made out to be the serious genre for serious readers, when reading long fantasy volumes like these makes nabokov feel like a holiday. there were so many characters to remember and magic systems to wrap your head around, it was exhausting.
music
some songs I have on repeat:
the first disciple - tamino
I wish my parents were cool enough name me after a character in the magic fluteinterdimensional - cosmo sheldrake
someone once texted me out of the blue to tell me that the vibe from cosmo’s music reminded them of me and I loved thatmarch - lizzy mcalpine
lizzy on vocals + ethan gruska on piano = ultimate cry fest
